ikeGPS announces new versions of operating system and desktop software

ikeDesktop 2.0  and ikeOS 5.2 rolled out at key joint use utility conference

SEATTLE, WA (September 20, 2013) ---  Data collection solution manufacturer, ikeGPS, announced the next generation of its OS and desktop software at the Western Energy Institute’s (WEI) Joint Use Conference in Seattle this week.  Attendees of the conference will be among the first to see the new releases which were developed for joint use utility data collection.

These new releases are key components of ikeGPS’ ikeSolutions Poles, used globally by electric utilities, telecommunication companies, and their service providers. Users can now create forms, ingest data, generate reports, and measure from calibrated photos, all within the ikeDesktop environment. Besides incorporating the ikeAnnotate functionality, ikeDesktop 2.0 includes support for pole and cross arm width measurements, PDF output support for reporting, improved zoom function during annotation, and the ability to change line colors on attachments.

Said Glenn Milnes, CEO of ikeGPS, “The new versions of our ikeOS and ikeDesktop were architected with the joint use utility pole market in mind. We have integrated our ikeAnnotate product into ikeDesktop to provide better functionality and streamlined access for engineers and others who work with the data collected with the ikeGPS unit.”

Daryl Bennett, PMP, Planning Services Coordinator at Black & McDonald, has been testing the new versions and said, “The new ikeDesktop is great. We no longer need multiple ike software programs to perform our work. It is extremely user friendly and the additions of labels, ability to measure widths, and to change colors of the leaders is a real enhancement to the product and our productivity.”

The new ikeOS has improved image exposure control to adapt to current lighting conditions, as well as improved the compass calibration process. Compass calibration is necessary when users travel by air and certain other situations.
