Twitch Announces Deep Integration With TouchFish for iOS

New virtual pet experience for iPhone and iPad submerges live broadcasters in 3D underwater worlds

SAN FRANCISCO — (BUSINESS WIRE) — September 17, 2014Twitch, the world’s leading video platform and community for gamers, today announced it will be integrated into TouchFish, a casual and social virtual pet experience on iOS from TouchFactor. Marking the first time Twitch has been integrated into an iOS game at launch, TouchFish features a full suite of Twitch-enabled functionality.

In TouchFish, players meet, grow and train their virtual BuddyFish, as they experience a world full of aquatic adventures, endless creativity, and games, all in movie-quality real-time 3D graphics. This includes using an iOS device’s camera to put themselves into their pets’ physics-based world and to interact with the Twitch community. The following illustrates how Twitch is deeply integrated into the TouchFish experience:

“We see Twitch as the next evolution in social engagement, allowing us to Create, Share, Visit, Play, and Collaborate in unrealized new ways on iOS,” said Julian Eggebrecht, Chairman of TouchFactor and Director of TouchFish. “Our revolutionary patent pending technology allows our players to express their creativity by building their own 3D worlds, using them as virtual studios, populating them with movie quality characters, and sharing their emotions with the Twitch community.”

Since launching in June 2011, Twitch features more than one million broadcasters and has reached more than 60 million monthly visitors, with the average visitor spending 106 minutes a day on the site. Twitch has also experienced an ongoing rise in mobile adoption with more than 15 million installs of the Twitch mobile viewing app on iOS and Android devices. In August, 2.75 billion minutes were watched by 6.3 million unique viewers using the app.

“Our goal is to not only be everywhere gamers are, but to work with developers to find new ways to expand what is possible with live broadcasting functionality,” said Brooke Van Dusen, Director of Business Development, Twitch. “With TouchFish, everything from the way the broadcaster is placed in the virtual world to the ability to visit other broadcasters’ creations illustrates the type of innovation that excites our community.”
