TEDxDetroit Announces Fox Theatre as Venue, Calls for 2015 Speaker Submissions

DETROIT — (BUSINESS WIRE) — June 11, 2015 — TEDxDetroit announced today that Detroit’s Fox Theatre will serve as the official venue for its 2015 ideas, innovation and inspiration conference, to be held on Thursday, Oct. 8, 2015. TEDxDetroit will host nearly 4,000 local entrepreneurs, educators, scientists, musicians and artists who move their industries forward.

The call for presenters and attendees is officially open. Potential speakers may submit their ideas for a talk to the selection committee through TEDxDetroit.com. Attendees may also request an invitation to the event through the website beginning June 12.

"Detroit is the city of reinvention, and TEDxDetroit brings together the thinkers and doers in our community who are making it happen," said Charlie Wollborg, Curator of TEDxDetroit and Chief Troublemaker of Curve Idea Accelerator. "This is the seventh TEDxDetroit, and we are excited to make the experience different each year for attendees by bringing together an eclectic and unique array of speakers to share their wit, wisdom, passion and breakthrough ideas.”

"The iconic Fox Theatre is the perfect location for the upcoming TEDxDetroit event,” said Janet Tyler, Executive Producer of TEDxDetroit and COO of Red Level Networks in Novi, Mich. “The rich history of talented entertainers performing at the Fox Theatre is certain to inspire the presenters at TEDxDetroit, as well as the audience in attendance.”

The conference has featured notable speakers in previous years, including innovators like Greg Gage of Backyard Brains and Jim Murphy of Pixar Animation Studios, entrepreneurs from Andy Didorosi to Dan Gilbert, journalists like Jaclyn Trop, artists such as Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr., and Jocelyn Rainey, as well as TV personalities such as Dr. Partha Nandi of "Ask Dr. Nandi" and Les Gold of "Hardcore Pawn."

The deadline for speaker submissions is Saturday, Aug. 8, 2015. The list of speakers will be released on Wednesday, Sept. 9, though a few additional surprise presenters will be revealed on the day of the event.

Those interested in attending should visit TEDxDetroit.com to request an invitation while tickets are available for an “early bird” rate of $75. The “early bird” pricing remains in effect until August 8.
