Telvent to Implement Its Information Technology for the Consumers Energy Distribution System

MADRID, SPAIN -- (MARKET WIRE) -- Mar 07, 2006 -- Telvent GIT S.A. (NASDAQ: TLVT), the Global RealTime IT Company, has signed, through its Miner & Miner subsidiary, a contract with the North American utility, Consumers Energy, to implement outage management for its energy distribution system.

Telvent will supply its Responder Outage Management System (OMS), to support Consumers Energy's electric distribution system. The OMS will ensure secure and efficient outage restoration, and will extend the utility's existing GIS (Geographic Information Systems) solution, allowing it to visualize and locate power outages throughout the network. The new system, to be integrated with SAP, SCADA, and mobile workforce management systems, is scheduled to be operational in August 2007.

According to Telvent's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Manuel Sánchez Ortega, "Our Responder solution will allow Consumers Energy to geospatially locate and identify the cause of a power failure throughout its network, and is part of our strategy for offering enterprise integrated real-time data to increase the efficiency, security and profitability of our customers."

Consumers Energy's Senior Engineer, Jim Fisher, stated, "Our team is looking forward to this new geospatial application to assist Consumers' efforts in restoring power."

Consumers Energy's search for a new OMS, which will enable the utility to better serve its large client base, was mandated because the existing outage system was rapidly approaching obsolescence. The utility required a solution capable of automatically displaying real-time outages, while providing access to accurate historical outage information, thereby ensuring system reliability, security and stability, in addition to providing seamless integration with their enterprise applications.
