ER Mapper Image Compressor nominated for Innovation Award

San Diego, USA, 2 May 2007 -- ER Mapper Image Compressor has been nominated for the Geospatial Innovator Award in the inaugural Geospatial Leadership Awards program. The Geospatial Leadership Awards are to be presented by GeoWorld magazine on a yearly basis.

The Geospatial Innovator Award is to recognize geospatial tool developers that have created new software or hardware that expands the possibilities of the geospatial industry.

The ER Mapper Image Compressor is a cost-effective desktop application for high-speed JPEG 2000 or ECW image compression. Image compression is used to make large imagery datasets more accessible and easier-to-use in GIS and other desktop or server applications. Raster imagery is increasingly becoming a default base data layer in many GIS applications.

Richard Orchard, Corporate Marketing Manager for ER Mapper said, “I am really excited that our Image Compressor has been nominated for this award. Image Compressor makes imagery so much easier to use in desktop applications, share with other people and manage.”

The award winners will be announced at the 2007 GeoTec Event in Calgary, Canada between 14-17 May.
