Logistics Load Matching Platform on SuperWebGIS

September 02, 2010 -- SuperGeo Technologies develops a WebGIS platform combining spatial data, delivery mode, and WebGIS technology for logistics vendors and consumers to query on an efficient platform. Using SuperWebGIS, the platform is able to match the demand and supply based on the matching conditions to lower costs and increase efficiency.

Logistics industry plays an important role in economy development. In order to decrease the costs, logistics vendors invest lots of money and efforts to cut the expense of the delivery and improve the efficiency of dispatch and delivery.

Generally, the minimum unit of load is a truckload. As a result, the limitation might force the consumers who only need to send small quantities of goods to pay higher fee because the option for delivering small quantities of goods is lacked.

In order to solve the problem, the project aims to build an e-marketplace platform for the consumers who need to send small quantities and the logistics vendors who provide the delivery services for small quantity to have the channel to communicate. The match mechanism of the system is able to match the conditions input by the logistics vendors and consumers and then to plan an ideal route in which a delivery truck can collect and deliver multiple goods.

Since the distribution route is related to spatial factors, the project integrates optimal delivery mode with WebGIS technology to provide a platform for logistics vendors and consumers to effectively match the demand and supply. The delivery conditions can be viewed via the browsers any time and any where. Users will no longer be limited by the load quantity and can enjoy the delivery services at a reasonable price.

SuperWebGIS is utilized as the map server software and Microsoft SQL Server 2005 is the database. The system will match the consumers and logistics vendors according to the features of the trucks and goods and also publish the maps and the routes via SuperWebGIS. Therefore, general users and logistics vendors can easily get the distribution results considering the features and matching conditions, such as time, distance, and weight, in a high-interactive, visualized manipulation environment.
