The Third International Workshop on GeoStreaming (IWGS 2013)November 5, 2013, Orlando, Floridahttp://persis.usc.edu/iwgs13/in conjunction withThe 21st ACM SIGSPATIAL International Conference on Advances in Geographic Information Systems (ACM SIGSPATIAL GIS 2013)
CALL FOR PAPERS
AIM AND SCOPE
Thanks to advances in geosensing technologies, real-time data acquisition through sensors and imagery devices has been widely deployed with many applications. In addition to temporal information, in many cases such acquired data streams include information about geographical locations and/or spatial extents (such as point coordinates, lines, or polygons). While collecting such so-called “GeoStream” data has been a major propeller to advance the state of the art in geographic information systems, efficient and effective processing, analyzing, and mining GeoStream data pose many challenges. This workshop addresses the research communities in both stream processing and geographic information systems. It brings together experts in the field from academia, industry and research labs to discuss the lessons they have learned over the years, to demonstrate what they have achieved so far, and to plan for the future of geostreaming. We encourage researchers from academia and industry to submit papers that highlight the value of stream query processing on topics that include, but not limited to the following: Spatio-temporal stream systems Spatio-temporal stream query processing Real-time mining of spatial and spatio-temporal dataLocation-aware stream systemsPrivacy preserving in mobile object databasesTraffic monitoring and predictionGeosensing technologies and their applicationGeosampling and probabilistic spatial stream query processingReal-time geographical information extraction and retrievalGeosocial networksMain memory and/or real time indexing of moving objectsReal-time spatial data visualizationSpatio-temporal stream processing on cloudParticipatory spatio-temporal data streams and Volunteered Geographic Information (VGI) systemsUse of hardware acceleration in real-time stream processingThe use of stream processing in traffic management, aerospace, earthquake physics, geodynamics, weather forecasting, asset management and scientific applications

The relationship between space and time has
been formulated in the most diverse planning theories and has
fascinated mankind from the beginning. When planning our cities, when
defining projects that may improve the conditions of our society, when
proposing decision processes that manage the space around us, when
implementing techniques to foster development - the relationship between
space and time is something we are constantly working with.
Join us for a free 30-minute webinar to find out more about some powerful Web GIS tools for data integration and analysis:
• GPS Location: users can track and map their location in the Web GIS • Load ESRI Shapefile: upload a shapefile to your Web GIS site, enabling you to add ad hoc layers for comparison and analysis • Query Builder: enables users to create, validate, and submit complex database queries • Select Nearest: find map features on a user-specified layer based on their distance from a specified location • Proximity Analysis: identify map features based on their proximity to an "Area of Interest" specified in four different ways • Spatial Data Export: export the selected map features to an ESRI shapefile, AutoCAD DWG or SDF format, so that data can be used by other applications or shared with other organization or groups as appropriate.
The iVAULT Web GIS analytics tools were designed and developed in order to reduce steps in the workflows, support better decisions and expedite the decision-making process.
