The ACM SIGSPATIAL International Conference on Advances in Geographic Information Systems 2011 (ACM SIGSPATIAL GIS 2011) is the nineteenth event in a series of symposia and workshops that began in 1993 with the aim of bringing together researchers, developers, users, and practitioners in relation to novel systems based on geo-spatial data and knowledge, and fostering interdisciplinary discussions and research in all aspects of geographic information systems.

Houston Area GIS Day

The Houston Area GIS Day is the largest showcase of its kind on how Geographic Information Systems are used in the City of Houston and surrounding areas. The first GIS Day was held on November 2001 at the University of Houston-Downtown campus. This year, the GIS Day events will be held on Wednesday November 9th for professionals and Thursday November 10th for students at LoneStar College off Barker Cypress. Rocket City Geospatial & Alabama GIS Conference

The Rocket City Geospatial Conference 2011 will present a wide range of key topics of local and regional interest from the Southeastern United States. In addition, the Alabama GIS Council will host a special session dedicated to updating municipalities and other local governments on progress in supporting the dissemination of geospatial information and technology.
