Marking the Launch of Esri’s ArcGIS Marketplace

September 26th, 2013 by Pierre Izard

DigitalGlobe congratulates Esri on the launch of its ArcGIS Marketplace ( on September 18 and is proud to be one of the initial, premium content providers.

With subscription-based DigitalGlobe ArcGIS Online offerings announced at this year’s Esri International User Conference, users will be able to seamlessly integrate their workflow with our Global Basemap and FirstLook products.  A highly customizable multispectral service will leverage a lot of the flexibility that ArcGIS 10.2 offers for accessing server-hosted, very high-resolution, remote-sensing data is also available.  These products are currently tailored to support the ArcGIS user base in the U.S. and Canada and will be sold through Esri Inc. and Esri Canada. We expect to phase in new offerings in other territories in the coming months.

By extending DigitalGlobe Cloud Services capabilities utilizing ArcGIS 10.2 technologies, we are now in a position to unlock new value for the broader ArcGIS ecosystem.  We are excited to see the interest we’ve received from the traditional desktop user base as well as the emerging opportunities from Esri’s location analytics and developer communities.  For information on our terms of use, please reference our ArcGIS Online Marketplace listings.

We have also received inquiries from ArcGIS app developers interested in leveraging these new capabilities.  Even though our service terms of use in this initial release do not accommodate for-profit app development, we certainly intend to work with Esri to establish a framework that will fully support the needs of the developer communities interested in unlocking new value propositions for the user base.  This is a very exciting opportunity for all parties involved and we will be communicating more about this in the coming weeks.

We remain committed to delivering world-class DigitalGlobe Information Services to public- and private-sector enterprises.  Leveraging the ArcGIS platform and new Marketplace offerings, we expect Esri users across staff and management roles to extract dramatically more insight for their organization.
