The recent successes in the research and commercialisation of 3D applications has identified the dearth of appropriate data to feed those applications. Applications geared towards the accurate portrayal and intricate definition of built environments are being restricted by inaccurate or otherwise inappropriate datasets. This paper will present an update to guide those practitioners in 3D applications to find the most appropriate dataset from the many options now available. Emphasis will be placed on the word: appropriate.
