OpenGIS is the activity pursued by the Open GIS
Consortium (OGC). OpenGIS seeks to achieve
transparent access to disparate geo-data and geo-processing
resources in a networked environment by
providing a rich suite of open interface specifications.
These interface specifications will enable GIS developers
to create inter-operable components that provide this
transparency.
