“The single biggest customer service
issue facing airport parking facilities,
whether they are on-site or
off, is shuttle bus frequency,” says
Steve Sundberg, President of
International Parking Management
Inc. (IPM), the Seattle-based owner and
operator of DIAPark.com.
Located more than 10 miles from the
Denver International Airport, the off-airport
lot represented by DIAPark.com relies
on global positioning system (GPS) satellites
to compete with on-airport shuttle lots
closer to the terminal. DIAPark.com uses
GPS to track and space its shuttle buses so
customers never have to wait more than
five to 10 minutes for a ride to or from the parking facility. As Sundberg sees it,
“Parking operations lose customers if people
have a long wait to be picked up.”
