An estimated 3,500 athletes, coaches and
trainers as well as 80,000 (daily) spectators are
expected to converge in Utah for the upcoming
2002 Winter Olympic Games to be held
Feb. 8-24, 2002, in Salt Lake City. To impro v e
safety and reduce emerg e n c y - response time
for the event’s participants, a coalition of
Utah public-safety agencies recently invested
in additional automatic vehicle location
( AVL) components to track the locations of
e m e rgency vehicles and shuttle buses carrying
athletes during the Winter Olympics.
