The ability to display and visualize geospatial data over web-based solutions has
been proven, but these applications typically do not provide serious analysis or
production-oriented processes. To achieve a comprehensive SOA for GeoINT, a wide
variety of image processing and GIS functionality will be required as web services.
While hard coding these services as specific functions may solve some of the more
common requirements, to meet the complexity of demands faced by the geospatial
analyst, thousands of hard coded services would have to be developed, deployed,
managed, and maintained.
