Despite stable or declining budgets, public libraries are constantly challenged
to provide more and better services to their growing, diverse area populations.
Libraries must stay abreast of new technologies and maintain their influence
in shaping the direction of their communities. With information so readily
available from the Internet, public libraries must compete with Web access
points for easily accessible and accurate information. Therefore, libraries
are always searching for better, cost-effective information services they can
provide free of charge to their business patrons and general library users.
