This paper presents the implementation of an integrated enterprise GIS system for forest management at Saga Prefecture, Kyushu, Japan. The system is implemented by using ESRI GIS technology (ArcGIS Desktop with ArcGIS Spatial Analyst extension plus ArcSDE) as well as Oracle database system, which is a GIS system to update all tabular and spatial data efficiently and manages and facilitates the forest management and local government planning. With the conclusion of this initial foundation GIS implementation, the system will help bring all of its source information into a single geodatabase and will improve communication and sharing of geospatial information with other management systems.
