The William R. Pogue Municipal Airport is owned and operated by the city of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, about 13 miles west of Tulsa. Pogue has been in operation since 1970 and competes with both Tulsa International and Jones Airport for local flight traffic. Pogue can accommodate large single and twin engine private jets and is home to 65 aircraft. As a municipal facility, Pogue must strike a fine balance between wise use of taxpayer funds and offering pilots an attractive, competitive set of amenities.
