The computed elastic strain accumulation in the southern Indian peninsula from the GPS derived velocity fields of the global network of GPS stations, in and around the Indian plate which includes Maitri, Indian Antarctic Station, show a significant departure from rigid plate behaviour in a manner consistent with the mapped intra plate stress field, observations of deformations and seismicity in the region.
