Specially designed software to compute geoid heights for the Caribbean Sea. Boundaries of area are defined as latitude 9-28N and longitude 86-58W.

| I was a tad concerned that I couldn't immediately determine exactly why CARIB97 was necessary. (I'm an old photogrammetrist and it is my experience that photogrammetrists should leave geodesy to the geodesists, so I wasn't surprised that the obvious reason for CARIB97 escaped me!)
Having said that, I think the reason for CARIB97 is this:
"On an island-by-island basis, CARIB97 now offers the ability to analyze local datum problems which were previously unrecognized due to a lack of high resolution geoid information in the area."
