  • January 16, 2012 -- Destination Southfield, a successful implementation of Esri’s ArcGIS for Local Government initiative, includes the portal, maps and apps, and the local government information model.  The City of Southfield, MI has a large enterprise GIS that incorporates data from various sources including Southfield’s assessing system, Southfield’s infrastructure management program, and Oakland County GIS.  The new portal is a landing pad for City staff and citizens to get access to maps and apps.  The maps and apps are organized into a gallery and around information and services citizens need in order to do business with the City.  With ArcGIS Server, Cloud, Information Model and maps and apps gallery in place, the City is launching new maps and apps more frequently, making the GIS more relevant. Take a look: http://maps.cityofsouthfield.com/destinationsouthfield/.

“In today’s economic climate, ArcGIS for Local Government offers us the best opportunity to deploy low cost applications that support our business, provide citizen engagement, and allow us to become more efficient,” says Sally Price, GIS Coordinator for the City.  “GISi helped us to realize this vision and Esri’s commitment to support these applications ensures compatibility with future ArcGIS software release cycles."
