  • (Heerbrugg, Switzerland, 6 February 2012) – Z/I Imaging today announced that IIC Technologies Limited of Hyderabad has purchased a Z/I Imaging DMC II 230 large-format digital mapping camera system. IIC Technologies is the first Indian company to purchase the DMC II digital sensor, introducing the latest digital imaging technology to the Indian Mapping Market.

“IIC Technologies has established an outstanding reputation for supplying high quality and cost effective photogrammetric and geospatial solutions in last two decades. Our new airborne data acquisition capabilities augment our existing surveys, image processing, GIS and software development strengths to enable us deliver end to end geospatial solutions to our customers with a quick turnaround, all under one roof. DMC II 230’s large format capability, high performance along with unmatched radiometric and geometric resolution among the large format frame cameras will help us to deliver increased productivity and quality to our customers” said Mr Rajesh Alla, Group Chairman and Managing Director of IIC Technologies.

IIC provides a full range of end-to-end geospatial solutions to the Aviation, Defense, Government, Infrastructure, Marine, Oil & Gas, Transportation, Heritage and Utility sectors.

When the original Z/I Imaging DMC was introduced as the first large-format frame mapping camera in 2003, photogrammetry firms were able to cut three to four weeks from their processing time because there was no film to develop and scan. Data can now be downloaded from the camera’s Solid State Disk (SSD) storage directly into processing software for a completely digital workflow. No special sensor model is required because the data can be processed with standard aerial triangulation algorithms.

“Today, the DMC family of cameras is best known for their superior image clarity, spatial resolution and accuracy,” said Rolf Schaeppi Sales Director for India of Geospatial Solutions. “The DMC II family with its large format single monolithic PAN camera head has set a new standard in large format frame based imaging sensors and provides extremely good value for money for our customers.”

Designed specifically as a photogrammetric mapping camera, the DMC II offers a rigid square frame and a fixed pixel geometry in a single pixel array that result in very high-quality geometric resolution. All DMC systems collect four-band multispectral (Red, Green, Blue, Near IR) and black-and-white panchromatic imagery. Automated forward motion compensation and rapid refresh rate enable operators to fly the DMC at low altitudes for large-scale survey applications and at higher altitudes for small-scale regional projects.

DMC II customers have flown the system on mapping projects and have achieved 3-centimeter pixel resolution [GSD].
