Redlands, California — July 26, 2012 — The City of Huber Heights and Geographic Technologies Group received a Special Achievement in GIS (SAG) Award at the Esri International User Conference (Esri UC) in San Diego, California held July 25, 2012. This award acknowledges vision, leadership, hard work, and innovative use of Esri's geographic information system (GIS) technology.
The City of Huber Heights and Geographic Technologies Group uses Esri ArcGIS technology to boost emergency readiness, operational efficiency, regional collaboration, and customer service. It has been effectively utilized for a range of events, including the Huber Heights 4th of July celebration and the YMCA Marathon; disaster drills; successful crime analysis and prevention; community outreach; zoning violations; and permit analysis. By integrating GIS in the 911 Dispatch Center, Huber Heights and GTG were able to incorporate automated vehicle location and routing. Also, Huber Heights and GTG were able to push out a mobile application utilizing ArcGIS Mobile and GTG GeoBlade to all police vehicle and fire apparatus.
Organizations from around the world honored at the Esri UC span industries including agriculture, cartography, climate change, defense and intelligence, economic development, education, government, health and human services, telecommunications, and utilities.
"Each year, the SAG Awards highlight extraordinary achievements and efforts to improve our world," says Esri president Jack Dangermond. "At Esri, we are always deeply impressed with the innovation of our users. This recognition is well deserved for how they’ve applied geospatial technology to address the needs of their industries and communities. They are defining GIS best practices."
