Magellan Kicks Off Hunting Season With New eXplorist Hunter GPS Editions and Kirsch's TRAX Maps

The new Magellan eXplorist 310 and eXplorist 510 Hunter Editions are the latest in Magellan's full line of eXplorist GPS receivers bundled with market-leading maps -- the Magellan eXplorist Angler, eXplorist Pro Angler, eXplorist Marine, eXplorist TOPO!, and eXplorist Hunter Editions.

Magellan eXplorist Hunter Editions include Magellan's rugged, waterproof (IPX-7), handheld eXplorist GPS receivers that operate up to 16 hours using two AA batteries. Also included is the user's choice of one U.S. state in the Kirsch's TRAX hunting maps line of sportsman's GPS maps including North Dakota, Minnesota, Montana, Wyoming, New Mexico, Arizona, Utah, Idaho, Colorado, Nevada, Washington and Oregon. TRAX maps combine features including Bureau of Land Management (BLM), U.S. Forest Service maps, Game and Fish maps, Wildlife Management Areas (WMA), PLOTS data, county roads, topographic contour data and other outdoor maps that work together on Magellan eXplorist GPS receivers to provide real-time mapping data critical to hunting and other outdoor activities. Consumers can download their selected TRAX maps at and enter a special code included in the Magellan eXplorist Hunter Edition box for a free 12-month subscription.

The Magellan eXplorist 310 Hunter Edition includes a lightweight Magellan eXplorist 310 outdoor handheld GPS with a 2.2-inch color screen, rich graphics and a simple user interface. The Magellan eXplorist 510 Hunter Edition features a 3-inch WQVGA transflective touch screen to provide a high-contrast daylight-readable display that will assist hunters to see more areas of a map when navigating and planning their hunt. Also included in the Magellan eXplorist 510 GPS device are a built-in 3.2 megapixel camera for geotagged photos and recording videos, plus a microphone and speaker for voice notes during an adventure.
