aisle411 Joins Bluetooth SIG, Open Geospatial Consortium and Open Mobile Alliance to Further Enhance the Mobile Retail Experience

PALO ALTO, Calif., Oct. 17, 2012 — (PRNewswire) — aisle411, the premier mobile retail navigation service, today announced it's joining of the Bluetooth Special Internet Group (SIG), the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) and Open Mobile Alliance (OMA), underscoring its commitment to lead the mobile retail navigation industry. By joining these select industry groups relating to indoor location and indoor maps, aisle411 will share know-how, gain exposure, network with industry veterans and participate in testbeds, further enhancing its indoor mapping and location technologies.

"Our commitment to innovation and helping change the in-store shopping experience led us to participate in these industry groups. We are expanding upon our indoor positioning technology to enhance the more than 9,000 indoor searchable maps that aisle411 currently supports for leading retail partners in our effort to provide the most valuable indoor location and commerce platform for our partners," said Nathan Pettyjohn, CEO of aisle411.

"We look forward to being part of these initiatives, allowing us to partner and plug-and-play with industry leaders to accelerate industry adoption of the most engaging shopping experience for customers across different devices, geographies, service providers, operators and networks," said Kris Kolodziej, VP, Location Services of aisle411.

The Bluetooth SIG is a global trade organization that oversees the development of Bluetooth specifications and the promotion and protection of the Bluetooth brand. Backed by industry leading companies, the Bluetooth SIG empowers over 17,000 member companies to collaborate, innovate and guide Bluetooth wireless technology.

"We're thrilled to welcome aisle411 into the fast-growing Bluetooth family as they seek to expand the market for indoor positioning solutions through standards-based technologies. The security and near-universal availability of Bluetooth technology make it a natural fit for companies in this segment," said Suke Jawanda, CMO of the Bluetooth SIG.

The Open Geospatial Consortium is an international association of 468 companies, government agencies and universities participating in a consensus process to develop publicly available interface standards. OGC Standards support interoperable solutions that "geo-enable" the Web, wireless and location-based services and mainstream IT. The standards empower technology developers to make complex spatial information and services accessible and useful with various applications.

"aisle411's expertise with indoor mapping, location and wayfinding will be a valuable contribution to OGC's mobile Internet and location services interoperability efforts, leading to better, more useful indoor geospatial information," said Raj Singh, Director of Interoperability Programs of OGC.

The Open Mobile Alliance was formed in June 2002 by nearly 200 companies representing the world's leading mobile operators, device and network suppliers, information technology companies and content providers. The OMA is designed to be the center of mobile service enabler specification work, helping to create interoperable services across countries, operators and mobile terminals that will meet the needs of the user.

"The OMA members welcome aisle411's expertise with indoor location positioning and way finding, which will be a valuable contribution to OMA's Location Working Group, leading to better, more useful indoor location specifications," said Mark Cataldo, Chairman of the Board at OMA.
