SPOT 6 Now Commercial
SPOT 6 Dead Sea Launched in September 2012, SPOT 6 is the newest member of the SPOT family of satellites to be commercially available. Imaging with a 60km wide footprint, SPOT 6 collects 1.5 meter panchromatic and 6 meter multispectral data, providing and ideal combination of resolution and coverage, and an acquisition capacity of 3 million square kilometers per day.

Russian Meteorite Impact Viewed by Pléiades
Pléiades 1A has acquired an image of the Russian town of Chebarkul, where a fragment of the meteorite that fell to Earth on February 15th left a hole in the middle of the frozen lake to the west of the town.

Vehicle tracks are visible on the ice, converging toward the 6-meter-wide hole. Most of the tracks run from the impact area to Chebarkul, 2.5 kilometers east.

SPOT 4 Undertakes New Mission Before Being De-Orbited

SPOT 4 Final Image After 177 months in service, SPOT 4's mission was brought to an end on January 11, 2013. In June, CNES will begin the process of de-orbiting SPOT 4 for a re-entry into Earth's atmosphere.

In the meantime, SPOT 4 is being given a new lease on life as a key element of the Take Five mission from February to May. The aim of this mission managed by CNES is to pave the way for the future Sentinel-2 mission.

Fires in Australia The Pléiades constellation was tasked for the first time in daily revisit mode to track the fires in Yerriyong State Forest, 100 kilometers east of Canberra, Australia.

The Pléiades 1B image acquired January 15th shows the extent of the fire that has burnt through 66,200 hectares of forest. Pléiades 1A collected a new image that highlights at least 4 new active fire areas in the south, reignited by searing hot temperatures.
