Why should I use a Gyro Mount?

Pitch, Yaw and Roll angels present a constant challenge for aerial photography and geospatial data acquisition.

Everything is possible with the right equipment and qualified employees to fulfill all requirements. Don’t think it’s so easy. The major challenge is to capture, store, analyze and manage all types of geographical data in the airborne business. Especially it will be shown in the endless fields of Aerial Photography, LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) or Scanning.

Equipment – Important stuff. There are a lot of different camera and sensor systems which are used for airborne data acquisition. For sure, it is high standard equipment, but what are the typically existing challenges for the crew?

  • Turbulences of the Aircraft
  • Smearing of images
  • Overlap
  • Risk of data gaps
  • Costs

The solution – Gyro Stabilization Mounts. SOMAG’s AG Jena 3 axis Gyro Mounts reduces roll, pitch and yaw movements of the aircraft. They are compatible with any Flight Management System like the one from IGI or Applanix and other systems can be integrated on demand. Our Mounts allow a potential use of various systems like Microsoft UltraCam series, Phase One iXA, Optech mapping solutions, IGI DigiCam series and Penta DigiCam, Applanix DSS, VisionMap A3 Series, Visual Intelligence sensors, Riegl LMS-Q1560 or Specim Hyperspectral sensors. It shows that our Mounts are built for a wide range of applications.

Get an idea of the various Devices. At this time,we offer 4 different types of Gyro Stabilization Mount, which are used worldwide. Which device is the right one for you?
