“Silicon One” Offers Easy Online Editing With Adobe InDesign Server

SAN FRANCISCO — (BUSINESS WIRE) — September 10, 2014 — Today Silicon Publishing, Inc., the leading provider of online editing and database publishing solutions for Adobe InDesign Server, announced the release of its Silicon One product – an affordable yet feature-rich solution for premium-quality online editing, web-to-print and multichannel publishing.

“Silicon One means that for the first time, companies of just about any size can quickly deploy a simple yet powerful tool for high-quality web-to-print with InDesign. The functionality shares many of the core features enjoyed by our Silicon Designer clients, but at a fraction of the investment or time commitment.” – Max Dunn, Silicon Publishing’s CEO

The product is described as offering an easy-to-use design and editorial system based on the company’s market-proven Silicon Designer and Paginator functionality for features including template setup, variable definition, document previewing, job administration and page composition. Managing these templates in a simple UI, Silicon One streamlines the editorial process for greater efficiency, excelling at common use cases such as text and image editing in documents where greater consistency in the end product is required.

“We found a number of clients for whom Silicon Designer was more 'free form' than what they really needed,” said Silicon Publishing COO Aaron Hodges. “Franchises, for example, want rigorous control of their brand's image, thus they often prefer a more simple form-based approach to online editing.”

If customers outgrow Silicon One, upgrade paths to the company’s Silicon Designer or Paginator solutions are straightforward, since the entire suite integrates with the Adobe InDesign Server composition engine, also available from Silicon Publishing.

Although offering an easy intuitive user experience, Silicon One is built upon sophisticated technologies, including an InDesign plugin for setting up data-aware document templates, an admin tool for uploading templates and managing jobs, and a runtime environment for online editing and PDF/InDesign/image generation. Extensive customized data management and advanced editing features are also available.
