Since its introduction last year, Matterport's 3D Showcase has provided an unprecedented ability for anyone to easily move through photorealistic 3D models of homes and other buildings -- anywhere in the world -- as part of Matterport's end-to-end 3D media platform.
Now with the latest release of 3D Showcase, users are given powerful new features that allow them to navigate and visualize homes and other buildings with multiple floors. For example, users can now change levels without navigating up or down a staircase, allowing greater access to every space within a Matterport 3D model. Another groundbreaking update is a newly added functionality in the "Dollhouse" view, where users can literally peel away floors to focus on one level at a time.
"Matterport's 3D Showcase delivers a highly immersive experience that gives users the feeling of moving through a space that in some ways is better than actually being there," said Bill Brown, CEO of Matterport. "Now with the latest release of 3D Showcase, visualizing and navigating multiple levels in homes and other spaces has never been easier."
Founded by researchers from Google, SRI and PayPal, Matterport is dedicated to bringing 3D media to the mainstream. The company's core technology consists of two primary components: the Matterport Pro 3D Camera, which simultaneously captures HDR imagery and comprehensive three-dimensional spatial data; and Matterport's cloud-based software that transforms this vast amount of data into immersive 3D models that can be shared at the push of a button. Matterport models can be viewed on tablets, laptops or smart phones as well as select brands of virtual reality headsets.
Matterport also uniquely improves its 3D models over time, so that new releases of its software improve earlier 3D photography, a flexibility that doesn't exist with traditional still photography or video.
Real estate brokerages and agents across the country have adopted Matterport's 3D Showcase to create compelling images that let prospective buyers conduct virtual walk-throughs of homes and properties. In June 2014, Matterport won the grand prize for innovation at the FWD Summit sponsored by Realogy Holdings Corp., a global leader in residential real estate with 13,600 franchise offices.
Located in Mountain View, CA, Matterport develops technology to create, modify, navigate and interact with 3D spaces. To learn more please visit our web site at www.matterport.com.
