Vertex Geospatial Inc Releases Video KLV and Telemetry Tool, VKAT for GIS.

New Hartford, NY, May 24, 2016 -- Vertex Geospatial in partnership with Adeptus Cyber Solutions announced the formal release of VKAT, Video KLV and Telemetry Tool.

VKAT merges video from UAV and action cameras with GPS data recorders to create intelligent video content that enables advanced analytical and mapping capabilities in a GIS environment.  The ability to map FMV content is quickly finding an important role in Search and Rescue operations, wildlife tracking/monitoring, and cinematography projects.  Supported by the number of conferences and other events that include tracks on how UAV's can, or are being used in varying industries, mapping FMV content is assuming a prominent role in data analysis.

As the rush to adopt UAV technology continues, potential solutions will expand exponentially based on inflated expectations of adaptability.  As the technology Matures, Miniaturizes and becomes Mainstream, (3M point) the question of "where" becomes as universal as it is for cell phone locations today.  As this occurs, the need for intelligent video streams soon becomes a requirement for advanced analysis and mapping.

Analysts are beginning to employ video content in GIS environments just as raster imagery has been used for the last 20 years.  To succeed, users will need "Intelligent" video content.  In concept, adding multiplexed metadata to video is much the same as adding an attribute table to a shape file.  Without the data (DBF), the SHP file is just a graphic representation, but with the data table, the SHP file becomes GIS content.  The same can be said of video with KLV.  The video becomes the graphic (SHP) and the KLV is the data (DBF).  From there the sky's the limit (or the sea, racetrack, savannah, mountain, etc).

"Recent developments in commercial FMV tools add a dimension to our remote sensing analysis not previously possible" commented Verne LaClair President of Vertex Geospatial. "Opening up UAV / action camera collected content through video (FMV) mapping is just the beginning of a new concept in commercial data collection."
