GE Energy to Provide Software Services to San Diego Data Processing Corporation

ATLANTA, GA. (October 7, 2004) - GE Energy has signed a five-year contract with San Diego Data Processing Corporation (DPC) to provide software services for the City of San Diego Water Department and the Metro Wastewater Department.

As part of the contract, GE Energy will provide software upgrades of its Smallworld Core Spatial Technology™ product to support San Diego Water's and Metro Wastewater's System Planning and Locator Application for Sewer and Hydrographics (SPLASH) application. The contract also includes onsite and remote, day-to-day, IT operations and support staff.

"Through our agreement with GE Energy, we will receive technical support from a large pool of highly-trained staff and have access to skilled backup for our SPLASH application support team during planned and unplanned events," said Susan Wynne, facility information management section manager, San Diego Water Department.

GE Energy will keep the SPLASH application current with the latest functionality available to users. It will also help provide efficient planning of water/wastewater projects as well as support the location of existing underground facilities used by the "Call Before You Dig" Program.

"This contract strengthens our relationship with the City of San Diego to one beyond a supplier, in which we share accountability for success and are motivated to steadily make technological improvements that enhance execution and meet their business objectives," said Ricardo Artigas, president of energy services for GE Energy. "We are the only vendor that is capable of providing such a comprehensive solution."

San Diego Data Processing Corporation is a not-for-profit information technology and telecommunications solutions provider, which was formed in 1979 by the City of San Diego. San Diego DPC had brought national recognition to the City of San Diego as a leader in innovative and efficient technologies that provide faster, better and cost-effective services to San Diegans as well as other cities, counties, state and federal agencies for the mutual benefit of those entities, San Diego and the region.
