Gradient Design Automation’s FireBolt™ Selected as Finalist for DesignVision Award

FireBolt honored for giving IC designers access to full-chip thermal information

SANTA CLARA, CALIF.February 6, 2006 – The International Engineering Consortium (IEC) and the 2006 DesignCon team selected FireBolt, the industry's first full-chip thermal analysis tool, as a finalist in the ASIC & IC Design Tools category for the 2006 DesignVision Awards. Winners in all categories will be announced at noon on Tuesday, February 7, during the DesignCon Conference at the Santa Clara Convention Center, Santa Clara, California.

The DesignVision awards recognize leading-edge products in the electronic design and semiconductor industries. FireBolt, which was introduced in May 2005, is a full-chip thermal analysis tool that gives IC designers a highly accurate 3D temperature map of the billions of objects in an IC, throughout the design process -- from silicon virtual prototyping to final sign- off – with realistic run times. With FireBolt, designers are able use the actual temperatures in the chip throughout the design flow; understand where they are over- or under-designing; save valuable design time, silicon area, and package cost; and reduce or eliminate silicon re-spin due to previously undetectable thermal-electrical problems. Never before have designers had access to detailed full-chip temperature information.

Dr. Barry Sullivan, DesignCon 2006 program director, said of this year's finalists, "The DesignVision Awards recognize innovative products and services that support the work of electronic design engineers, the core audience at DesignCon. The IEC is pleased to provide this recognition to companies whose products exemplify our standard of service to the industry." Gradient also will be participating in a technical panel at DesignCon. On Wednesday, February 8, at 3:45pm, Nanda Gopal, Senior Engineer, will be on a panel discussing "OpenAccess Adoption and Proliferation: The Journey Continues."
