REDWOOD CITY, Calif. and OULU, Finland, Oct. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Celvibe Ltd., a developer of advanced solutions for streaming high-quality live television broadcasts to wireless devices, and Hantro Products Ltd., a developer of two-way video technology for wireless communications, today announced the success of recent interoperability tests with MPEG-4 streaming media.
Focused on interoperability between the Celvibe CelFeed (TM) solution and Hantro MPEG-4 codec as well as overall compatibility with the MPEG-4 standard, the tests featured encoding, decoding and play of video streams. CelFeed, the world's first live television streamer that enables cellular and other wireless operators to transmit live television broadcasts directly to their subscribers, was used to encode several video bit streams which were subsequently decoded and played by Hantro's codec. The success of the interoperability tests further validates the MPEG-4 standard as the optimal architecture for delivering streaming applications and services in the mobile telecommunication environment.
"Once again we are able to demonstrate that CelFeed meets the flexibility requirements of the industry, and also ensure that customers have choices for wireless video streaming solutions," said John Marchioni, Vice President of Business Development, Celvibe Inc. "We are especially pleased to have verified this capability with Hantro because its embedded-hardware approach to CODEC solutions contributes significantly to making wireless-streaming video a market reality."
"Achieving interoperability with a highly scaleable and real-time transcoding solution such as CelFeed was an important goal for Hantro and each successful test of the standard strengthens MPEG-4 as the multimedia format of choice for many different platforms and applications," said Tomas Myntti, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Hantro Products Oy.
