Sidwell Client Receives 2009 SAG Award from ESRI®

July 20, 2009 -- St. Charles, IL – Each year, GIS-industry leader ESRI® awards the outstanding group of users who have set new standards in the GIS community with their Special Achievement in GIS (SAG) award. Thousands of nominations are made by ESRI employees, and the award winners are hand selected by Jack Dangermond, owner and president of ESRI. The Sidwell Company is pleased to announce that long-time client St. Clair County, Illinois, has been named a SAG award recipient for 2009. St. Clair County is among an elite group of user sites chosen from more than 100,000 sites worldwide. St. Clair County’s GIS Coordinator, Charles Kofron, Ph.D., commented “I really do appreciate the support of Sidwell and the work that has gone into St. Clair County’s GIS program. We have come a long way together.” Added Kofron “Sidwell’s leadership has been integral to the County’s success.” Sidwell and St. Clair County first worked together in the 1960’s when the firm was selected by St. Clair County to provide them with a pen-and-ink mapping system; Sidwell also performed the conversion of the original mapping system into a digital GIS format in the 1990’s and has performed ongoing map maintenance services for the County for many years.

St. Clair County joins the growing list of Sidwell clients who have received the SAG award: Sioux City-Woodbury County, Iowa and Allen County, Indiana (2004); Pottawattamie County, Iowa (2005); Kane County, Illinois and Polk County, Iowa (2006); Black hawk County, Iowa and the Pulaski County, Arkansas Assessor (2007); and Delaware County, Indiana (2008).
