Sanborn Announces Acquisition of Optech’s LYNX™ Mobile Mapper Technology

Colorado Springs , Colorado , December 16, 2009 - Sanborn, a leading provider of geospatial solutions announces the purchase and implementation announces of Optech’s next-generation LYNX Mobile Mapper technology.  Sanborn is a pioneer in the deployment of mobile mapping technology. As early as 2001, Sanborn was creating digital maps that captured visually and geospatially accurate roads, infrastructure, and other assets using the VISAT (Video Inertial Satellite) Video Capture and GPS/IMU technology. Today, Sanborn continues to push the leading edge of technology with the acquisition and deployment of the Optech Lynx V200 Mobile Mapping System. This advanced mobile mapping system combines LiDAR data with high resolution video collection to meet the accuracy required for today’s engineering grade applications and solutions.

“Sanborn is very enthusiastic adding this technology to our portfolio of solutions,” reported Rick Vincent, General Manager, Sanborn Laser Imaging. “Being able to meet the requirements of our customer requiring a continuous terrestrial view by fusing lidar and video is very exciting.”  Sanborn will be able to offer its clients the full range of lidar options.  “Sanborn is looking forward to its continued relationship with Optech,” continues Vincent, “After reviewing systems for the past year, we believe we have a winner.”

The LYNX Mobile Mapper boasts a revolutionary new LiDAR sensor head that leverages Optech’s extensive experience in surveying development in addition to iFLEX – the latest in LiDAR innovation – to collect survey-grade LiDAR data at over 200,000 measurements per second with a 360º FOV, while maintaining a Class 1 eye safety rating.
