USGIF Workshop: Commercial SAR Familiarization
Wednesday, Nov. 3
2:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Commercial Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) provides tremendous opportunities for the defense, intelligence and civil communities. In this workshop, SAR experts from NGA and commercial providers will present an overview tutorial about the SAR imaging process and natural coherence of radar illumination, providing the general SAR user with an understanding of how SAR produces images and how sophisticated products such as elevation models, subsidence maps or change detection applications are generated. Attendees will also be given a combined overview of the three commercial SAR systems - COSMOSkyMed, TerraSAR-X and RADARSAT- along with general knowledge of acquisition modes and associated applications. Finally, a representative from NGA will describe how members of the NSG access this data through NGA’s contract vehicle.
Breakout Track - Warfighter Feedback
Wednesday, Nov. 3
2:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.
The Defense Intelligence Information Enterprise (DI2E) is intended to enable interoperability and information sharing across a Defense Intelligence Enterprise (DIE), including military intelligence and command and control elements, Combat Support Agencies (CSA), the Intelligence Community (IC), and interagency and multinational partners throughout the range of military operations from tactical to strategic levels. This session will focus on the panel member’s recent warfighter experiences, the need and importance of having the ability to seamlessly share information, and the potential capabilities a DI2E, built on a common framework, would provide the warfighter.
Over 200 exhibitors will be filling more than 100,000 square feet with breakthrough 3.0 technologies revolutionizing the tradecraft. Boeing's ScanEagle, the U.S. Army North's Sentinel and Emergency Response Vehicle and the 512th Engineer Detachment's Digital Topographic Support System (DTSS) are just a few of the vehicles being displayed within the hall. Make sure to check out the Interoperability Tech Talks, taking place in the Tech Talks Theater in the exhibit hall on Wednesday and Thursday. The GEONIT 2010 exhibit hall engages attendees and exhibitors even before the Symposium begins through Map Your Show's interactive exhibit hall floor plan. The GEOINT 2010 floor plan gives attendees the ability to plan and scope out their trip through the exhibit hall. Attendees and exhibitors are also encouraged to participate in the daily networking receptions held in the exhibit hall. Complimentary refreshments and hors d'oeurves will be provided as you tour the hall and network with colleagues.
