China Information Technology's Sophisticated GIS Expands into new Territory with $3 million Shuohuang Railway Contract Win

SHENZHEN, China, Jan. 4, 2011 — (PRNewswire) — China Information Technology, Inc. (Nasdaq: CNIT), a leading total solutions provider of geographic information systems (GIS), digital public security technology (DPST) and digital hospital information systems (DHIS) in China, today announced it has won a contract worth approximately $3 million with Shuohuang Railway Development Co., Ltd. (Shuohuang Railway) to contribute its sophisticated GIS systems to the Shuohuang Railway Geographic Information System (SR-GIS).

The Shuohuang railway system is one of the main transportation channels for China's National West-to-East Coal Transfer project, and carries over 350 tonnes of coal annually across the country.  SR-GIS is a significant part of Shuohuang Railway's modernization effort, known as "Digital Shuohuang," launched to meet the vigorous demands of the safe and efficient operation, planning and management of the Shuohuang rail line and its facilities.

SR-GIS will be an advanced system of spatial information technology platforms, providing access to multi-source data, remote sensing, geographic information systems, enhanced communication and 3D virtual simulations.

"We are excited to be a part of this critical project for the Shuohuang rail line," said Jiang Huai Lin, Chairman and CEO of CNIT.  "The contract signals the successful penetration of our sophisticated GIS products into the railway industry, which is expected to provide us with additional growth momentum for our business.  The win is a reflection of our company's innovation and expertise across many different industries. We expect many of our GIS products will continue to be the first choice for high-demand projects such as the SR-GIS, given our company's reputation for providing dependable, cutting-edge information technology solutions. We expect to continue expanding our market share in China's fast growing GIS industry by leveraging our product development and offering capabilities."
