AppGeo Celebrates 20 Years of GIS Consulting Success

BOSTON – March 17, 2011 – In May, Applied Geographics, Inc. (AppGeo) will celebrate its 20th anniversary of providing high quality geospatial and related information technology services across New England, the United States, and Canada.  “This is a significant milestone” said Michael Terner, Executive Vice President and co-founder, “as we have now participated in the maturation of the geospatial industry for two full decades.  In 1991, we started with expensive UNIX workstations and now we’re delivering innovative applications that are hosted in the cloud and available on smart phones.”

“AppGeo’s top talent and strong dedication to the needs of its customers are steadfast traits,” said Rich Grady, AppGeo President. “To recognize this milestone, we have introduced a new logo that is symbolic of the fresh look we are taking as the platform technology for our industry continues to evolve in fundamental ways.  We are energized to start a new decade of providing services that are consistent with the shared values of our customer community for simplicity and openness.”

By developing and applying the best of geospatial and information technology for 20 years, AppGeo has been able to assist customers across their full spectrum of requirements, from GIS strategic planning and system design to data automation and integration to application development and Web deployment.  For our local government customers, AppGeo also offers GIS hosting services on both Esri™ and Open Source Software platforms.

AppGeo has successfully completed more than a thousand projects for over 600 public and private clients in 31 states.  The company is currently active in a number of key sectors, including broadband,  transportation,  environmental, public safety, and the operational needs of federal, state and local government.  “Today, governments and citizens alike fully appreciate that GIS is a key tool for more effectively delivering services and building better communities,” observed Grady.

In the words of David Weaver, Vice President and AppGeo co-founder, “Listening to the needs of our wide variety of clients is a real contributor to our success.  We share not just geography, but also values with our customer community.”
