Case Study: TerraSAR-X Surface Movement Mapping for Subway Construction Project

Surface MonitoringThe Challenge:
Infrastructure construction, excavations and underground engineering may cause displacements of the Earth's surface, which can endanger infrastructure or even human lives. Frequently, extensive terrestrial surveying programs are required to monitor surface movements related to construction activities such as the complex building project of a new subway line in the Hungarian capital, Budapest, that transverses almost the entire city.

IN FOCUS

SPOTMonitoring Japan

Japan Earthquake:

Imagery Experts Made Available to the International Community

The situation regarding Japan's nuclear power plants recently prompted Astrium GEO-Information Services to activate our SPOTMonitoring service over the area. Daily change detection reports were delivered to subscribers free of charge March 17-25 . The stricken Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear power plant and its surroundings are still under surveillance and periodic reports will still be delivered over the next few months.

SPOTMonitoring delivers straightforward information about what's happening on the ground. This unique service can be activated for any area on Earth and is particularly useful for monitoring remote or inaccessible sites.

On the SPOTMonitoring portal, users can access different levels of change detection, from a simple indication of the number of changes, to identification of these changes - strengthened by expert analysis.
