Z/I DMC II 230 Large Format Camera captures Imaging Market

10 systems in 3 months - ASTEC GmbH one of the first users in Europe

(Aalen/Germany, 21 April 2011) Following the successful worldwide launch of the Z/I DMC II140 camera in 2010, the second model of this series, the Z/I DMC II230,  is now available. The first user in the European sphere is ASTEC GmbH of Kreba-Neudorf/Saxony Germany.

"The monolithic panchromatic camera head and the world's largest image format based on a 230 megapixel sensor are the outstanding characteristics of the Z/I DMC II230.  This design provides the best geometric accuracy while achieving the highest image quality," says Dr. Hartmut Rosengarten, Director Hexagon Geosystems, Airborne Sensors EMEA. "We are sure that ASTEC will contribute to establishing this efficient new camera technology on the market with best quality to the end user and highest productivity for the service provider."

ASTEC GmbH has already taken an important step towards renovating its sensor systems when purchasing two new Leica ALS60 laser scanners from Leica Geosystems at Intergeo 2010. By adding Z/I Imaging´s DMC II230 to their product line, ASTEC is continuing this development and underlining its claim growing to one of the leading remote sensing companies in Europe.

"We are also delighted that we can now work with Z/I Imaging, our second major partner from the Hexagon Group and look forward to a fruitful, long-term cooperative relationship," says Dr. Klaus-Dieter Hanemann, Sales Manager at ASTEC and responsible for digital airborne imaging.

About ASTEC GmbH
ASTEC GmbH collects, processes and markets digital geodata. Based on very good financial facilities, its expertise is based on many years of know-how and experience in the fields of survey flights, digital photogrammetry, laser scanning and GIS.
Over the last 6 years ASTEC has successfully completed numerous image production and LiDAR projects within and beyond Europe.  The company can call upon several digital sensor systems, which can be used stand alone or simultaneously in the aircraft, depending on the project requirements: Z/I DMCII-230 airborne digital frame camera, Leica ALS60 LiDAR system, Leica ALS50 LiDAR system. Other special aircrafts and sophisticated sensor systems are available via partner companies.

About Z/I Imaging
Following the takeover of Intergraph by the Hexagon Group in 2010, the new Geospatial Solutions Division was formed under the Hexagon Geosystems brand from the former airborne sensor divisions at Leica Geosystems and Z/I Imaging. Both, Z/I Imaging and Leica Geosystems, develop, manufacture, market and maintain airborne sensors (Z/I DMC, Z/I DMC II, Z/I RMK D camera systems, Leica ADS, Leica RCD30 camera systems and Leica ALS LIDAR systems). The complete system solutions include mission planning, flight management, stabilisation platforms, GPS/IMU and the software applications for data processing and photogrammetric production.
