  • July 11, 2011 -- Effingham County, GA, with support from Geographic Information Services, Inc. (GISi), has successfully implemented the new Esri Local Government Information Model and the Tax Parcel Viewer web application. Both the model and application are available for download from Esri’s ArcGIS for Local Government Resource Center.

The County is in the second year of their Esri Small Government Enterprise License Agreement and has been looking for efficient ways to get their rich GIS data into the hands of their constituents. Esri’s new ArcGIS for Local Government initiative provided the starting point to make this happen. “We are excited to adopt Esri’s new local government information model and can’t wait to leverage all of the maps, apps, and tools available at Esri’s ArcGIS for Local Government. With the data model in place we will be able to quickly and efficiently deploy apps to our users creating quick wins for our GIS Department”, says Kresha Aycock, GIS Manager, Effingham County, GA. “We experienced this first hand with the successful deployment of the new Tax Parcel Viewer web application”.

GISi, an Esri Platinum Partner, is looking forward to working with local governments to adopt and extend the Local Government Information Model and to contribute to the maps, apps, and tools that will be made available. “Our objective is to help Local Governments embrace the resources available from Esri’s ArcGIS for Local Government and see it as a way to help them maximize their investment in Esri technology”, says Michael Healander, State and Local Government General Manager at GISi. http://blog.gisinc.com/author/mhealander/
