The continuing services contract will be used to support all SFWMD GIS and Remote Sensing projects, including the Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan (CERP), a federal public works effort to restore South Florida’s ecosystem. The four principal areas of work under the SFWMD contract are GIS analysis and reporting, GIS data development, GIS application development and Remote Sensing.
"We are extremely pleased with this win," said Mark Nelson, P.E., Jones Edmunds Discipline Director - GIS. “This selection is a testament to the breadth and depth of our water resources related GIS and remote sensing expertise”
The jurisdiction for SFWMD includes approximately 18,000 square miles and 16 counties, from the southern Orlando area down to Key West, and from Fort Myers on the west coast to Fort Pierce on the east coast.
Jones Edmunds ranked second of the five firms selected from the 26 companies who applied for this SFWMD contract. Jones Edmunds’ GIS and Remote Sensing contract team consists of Merrick & Company, GIS Associates and Mannion Geosystems. Although a newcomer to SFWMD, Jones Edmunds GIS Division is becoming the consultant of choice of many of State and local agencies in Florida.
“Our GIS Discipline broadened Jones Edmunds’ service offerings. Now it is broadening our market to more communities in Florida,” said Ken Vogel, P.E., Vice President and Corporate Marketing Director at Jones Edmunds.
