Parker, CO based Stellacore Corporation and Calgary based North West Geomatics Ltd. announced today that they have launched an independent company, Pixelgrammetry Ltd., for the purpose of developing and selling products that provide a automated workflow for digital push-broom imaging sensors. The products will initially focus on Leica’s ADS40 sensor and will be expanded to other sensors as they are introduced.
Dave Knopp, Stellacore's President, will lead Pixelgrammetry's commercial product development and deployment as V.P. Commercial Product Development at Pixelgrammetry. "Pixelgrammetry's focus is to work closely with visionary imaging-information companies to make processing of aerial digital sensing data an easy, efficient, reliable and profitable endeavor. Our focus at Pixelgrammetry is to enable image production on the 'peta-scale' level - a requirement that is rapidly becoming a necessity for business survival and growth in the near-term future" stated Knopp. “Our ultimate objective is to deliver push-broom workflow components that are affordable and usable within smaller organizations and that are also fully scalable to larger organizations and processing centers.”
John Welter, Vice President of North West commented, “We are very excited about this new company with involvement of the Stellacore team as it brings significant strength to Pixelgrammetry’s effort. Stellacore’s expertise in image processing, radiometric adjustment, system engineering and product commercialization are essential as Pixelgrammetry brings to market a complete production orientated workflow. All of industry, including North West, have suffered through the problems associated with the current processing products not addressing the unique and clearly superior automation capabilities of push-broom sensors. Pixelgrammetry is about to change that for the entire industry.”
The initial product, available May 1st 2006, is a highly automated aerial triangulation package employing a rigorous push-broom sensor model for the ADS40. As part of development process validation, this package has been successfully utilized for the past 6 months by North West on the 2005 NAIP program and various other projects. The accuracies achieved have exceeded those of existing ADS40 triangulation packages. More significant is the improved efficiency that takes the current triangulation task from requiring a few days of processing to only hours. A high performance ortho-rectification engine is currently in production testing.
