The new solution, VisiNet GISLink facilitates synchronizing spatial data with VisiCAD Command, TriTech’s computer-aided dispatch (CAD) software solution including addressing, routing and spatial layers. This is accomplished by sing a simple interface with minimal steps that enables the user to link their 9-1-1 applications directly to the GIS enterprise system. VisiNet GISLink allows the user to specify the location of source, destination, and differences data; links streets fields to CAD streets fields (many or all automatically link); determine and fill differences and then synchronizes these differences with the TriTech GIS databases. VisiNet GIS Link greatly simplifies the process of data validation with no degradation in CAD or VisiNet Mobil performance, and without having to reboot the application.
VisiNet GISLink reduces redundancy and errors when updating GIS data in VisiCAD, by allowing clients to easily synchronize VisiCAD street data with their GIS data directly from the source. Written using ESRI ArcGis Engine 9.1 and Microsoft .NET technologies, the solution diminishes the complexity of updating streets and other spatial data elements for greater assurance that CAD street data is up-to-date. Streets are easily edited in ArcView, ArcEditor or ArcInfo. Clients control the editing process and VisiNet GISLink automatically transfers the changes into VisiCAD.
VisiNet GISLink also offers the flexibility to perform a complete comparison of the VisiCAD source and GIS destination databases for data updates/changes or a quick update of a few known records that are time sensitive. Users have the opportunity to review the differences between the two systems before the CAD system is updated, to further ensure data accuracy. The status of the CAD data in relation to GIS data is always known through data validation and export activities.
The software automatically makes any format adjustments to the source data during synchronization and updates all affected VisiCAD files including response areas and intersections. Logging files allow the system administrator to later review transaction updates and easily identify problems with improperly formatted data such as incorrect data types or mismatched codes.
The flexible solution handles multiple data formats including:
- ESRI feature classes in a personal geodatabase
- ESRI standard shapefile format
VisiNet GISLink was created to further bridge the gap between city or county GIS departments and the 911 center. “GIS is no longer an island within city or county government”, says Chris Maloney, TriTech CEO. “911 centers are requiring their CAD and Mobile systems to seamlessly integrate with their GIS departments to eliminate
redundant data entry and reduce addressing errors. VisiNet GISLink helps agencies make great strides toward meeting these requirements.”
VisiCAD Command provides public safety agencies with a GIS-centric solution. The CAD solution was developed with the robust integration of GIS that enables clients to utilize the best tool available to maintain the spatial accuracy of their streets data. VisiNet GISLink complements this strength with quick and accurate synchronization and updates of CAD and streets data. The solution provides transparent import/export functionality, with automatic updating and projection from your preferred projection to latitude/longitude. VisiNet GISLink will ensure data consistency, and minimize addressing, routing and response errors.
