CustomWeather Launches New Hurricane Package

SAN FRANCISCO—(BUSINESS WIRE)—July 20, 2006— CustomWeather, Inc. is pleased to announce its new hurricane software package just in time for the 2006 hurricane season. This new software package features the ability to request historical hurricane data based on date ranges and bounding boxes for hurricanes, tropical cyclones, and typhoons that have occurred anywhere around the world. The new package also features projected paths and wind swath information for current tropical systems across the globe for the next 5 days. CustomWeather provides advanced queries for tracking wind speed thresholds and various strength categories.

CustomWeather offers turnkey solutions including hurricane maps through its OpenGIS(R)-based map server and both forecast and historical data through its XML query available via a HTTP interface. Hurricane path information is also available via shapefiles (vector format). CustomWeather's hurricane package is perfect for emergency managers, websites, alerting services, travel and tourism, and GIS professionals.

"Our new hurricane package is just in time for the 2006 hurricane season which is expected to be another busy one," said Geoff Flint, CEO of CustomWeather, Inc. "This will allow our clients to stay abreast of current developing storms as well as track historical information to allow them to assist in recovery efforts."

As part of the hurricane package, clients also have access to satellite imagery, Doppler radar, and real-time alerts from the National Weather Service.
