MetaCarta has just signed an agreement to provide MetaCarta GeoTagger as a component of ESRI's ArcWeb Services. This means ArcWeb Services users will be able to geo-reference data found in unstructured documents and view the results in custom mapping applications. With ArcWeb Services, users can access GIS content over the Web, on demand. This is a “GIS for everyone” effort, as with ArcWeb Services, ESRI handles all the data storage, maintenance and updates so that users don't have to purchase and maintain large data sets.
Recently Inxight Federal Systems, a provider of federated search, extraction and visualization solutions for government organizations, and Visual Analytics, Inc. (VAI), provider of pattern discovery solutions and interactive visual analysis technologies, announced the integration of Inxight's entity and fact extraction technologies with the Digital Information Gateway (DIG) Symphony platform and VisuaLinks from Visual Analytics to visualize the tagged data and relationships.
ThingFinder identifies critical entities in unstructured text such as people, places, organizations, weapons, currencies, phone numbers, license plates, etc. It also goes one step further and gathers facts and events such as travel or opera, and relationships between people. DIG Symphony and VisuaLinks platforms from VAI then organize these entities so that they can be made a coherent part of investigations and analysis in intelligence operations.
BAE Systems has come out with a new version of SOCET GXP Software with tools for image analysis, geospatial analysis, 3D simulation and targeting. This can be used by military analysts to process, analyze, and deliver digital imagery from airborne and satellite sensors.
