The Louisville/Jefferson County Information Consortium (LOJIC) represents a multi-agency effort to build and maintain a comprehensive Geographic Information System (GIS) to serve all of Louisville Metro, Jefferson County, Kentucky. With nearly 300,000 parcels in the county, everyday maintenance can be a daunting task. To increase efficiency by reducing duplicate data entry, LOJIC and The Jefferson County PVA contracted with Smart Data Strategies to integrate parcel editing functions with their existing CAMA system.
“Accurate and aggressively maintained property data is absolutely fundamental for any comprehensive GIS operation. Integration of Manatron and Smart Data Strategies’ DREAMaps software will allow us to better leverage recent advancements in GIS technology and we will finally be able to integrate two key land records operations – CAMA and parcel map maintenance. This will not only streamline PVA business processes, but will result in a more robust land records database for our other partners and users,” said Curt Bynum, LOJIC GIS Coordinator.
Smart Data Strategies customized their commercial off the shelf product, DREAMaps Mapper, to meet this need by integrating the DREAMaps Transaction Manager. Once parcels are split or joined using Mapper the Transaction Manager is displayed on the screen indicating what is available to automatically populate the CAMA database. This eliminates the duplicate entry that most jurisdictions face when editing parcels and CAMA in a GIS environment.
“DREAMaps Mapper has provided us with a user friendly process to keep our mapping current. Once the implementation was finalized, our office was able to complete four months worth of updates in a few weeks,” said Donna Hunt, Chief Deputy Jefferson County PVA.
