RWE Group Opts for GIS Solution from AED-SICAD

Plan for company-wide introduction

Dortmund, October 6, 2006 - Following extensive market research activities and a call for tenders for a Geoinformation system, RWE Systems AG and RWE Energy AG opted in favor of AED-SICAD's standard application for utilities.

The RWE companies and AED-SICAD signed an outline agreement by the end of September 2006, covering the Europe-wide use of the new GIS solution for utilities within RWE Energy's associated companies.

With the implementation of the GIS, RWE intends to achieve considerable advantages, especially by reducing running operational costs.

Systematic way to multiple use
In a first step, AED-SICAD realizes a master application, together with RWE Systems and RWE Energy. In the second project phase, this will be introduced at the three network companies RWE Westfalen Weser Ems Netzservice GmbH, RWE Rhein-Ruhr Netzservice GmbH and SÜWAG Netzservice GmbH. Only by introducing the software in these three companies, the final number of users will exceed 2.400. These persons will make use of the network information from the GIS in the office as well as in the field.

In addition to implementing the GIS application, AED-SICAD will also provide all necessary migration services and professional training. This also applies for the system introduction at other European associated groups of RWE.
