Something for Everyone: Autodesk Labs
Every year, structures and other engineered facilities suffer damage and performance problems as a result of unanticipated loading conditions (i.e., natural and man-made disasters), poor design, lack of maintenance, and poor construction practices. The mission of the Technical Council on Forensic Engineering (TCFE) is to apply engineering principles to investigate failures and performance problems of engineered facilities, and to develop practices and procedures to reduce the number of future failures. Through the Forensic Congress, TCFE disseminates information on failures and practices to mitigate failures, and provides a forum to discuss ethical practice within the field of forensic engineering. You are invited to submit a draft paper for consideration on any of the topics listed on the "Submit Paper" page. We look forward to your participation in October!

There is a gap in financial and accounting software commonly found between growing architectural and engineering (A/E) firms and more established A/E firms. Often, these growing firms get lost in the search for a new solution and don't get the advice and direction they need when investing in financial and accounting software. Client's Bill of RightsAxium recognized this gap and initiated an effort to help these firms; providing them with Ajera - an innovative, easy-to-use software that empowers them to grow and succeed. Each year, the number of Ajera clients grows as firms continue to see the benefit of using our software. At Axium we believe the key to bridging the gap between generic software and enterprise software is letting firms know what they should expect from their software; a Client's Bill of Rights. In 2006, Axium will highlight and explain 10 rights you have and should be aware of in purchasing a financial and project management software. We will focus and discuss in detail your rights in a series of webinars throughout the year. So, watch for our next mailer, register for our upcoming webinars and learn what to look for in a financial and project management software.

After Architecture After Date: October 13 - November 19, 2006 Place: Antwerp, Belgium
In addition to presenting architects, every year deSingel also exhibits an artist who has a close affinity with architecture. In a large exhibition, this artist sheds light on architecture from new, unexpected angles. After the exhibitions 'Alphavilles? Tropicalisation!' (Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster, 2004) and 'Iconocity' (Aglaia Konrad, 2005) it is now the turn of Jolle Tuerlinckx (b. 1958, Brussels) to outline her views on architecture. The title, 'After Architecture After' refers to the second stage of perception, the image retained on our retina. And also to the fragile state of architecture itself. How do we see certain things? When do we see them, if we see them at all? And if we see them, what do they conjure up? Objects that lie around, shadows, noise, reflections of light, markings, etc. In short, a lot of what is visible but is often not seen determines Tuerlinckx' work and her thoughts on architecture. This is far from being her first exhibition. She has previously exhibited at documenta XI in Kassel (2002) and has had solo exhibitions at the Renaissance Society in Chicago (2003), the Badischer Kunstverein (2004) and The Drawing Center in New York (2006). 'After Architecture After' is her first major project in Belgium since 1999 exhibition at the SMAK in Ghent.
