IRRIS Named Top-Performing Technical Solution at Coalition Warrior Interoperability Demonstration

(Harrisburg, Pa.)  -- January 3, 2006 --  IRRIS, an award-winning, Web-based portal used by the U.S. Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command Transportation Engineering Agency (SDDCTEA) to manage and improve the global deployment of troops and military assets, was named one of the top-performing technical solutions in the Coalition Warrior Interoperability Demonstration (CWID) 2006 Final Report.

In the final report, IRRIS was recommended as a solution of choice by the CWID Senior Management Group. The recommendation was based on input received from participating warfighters and operators, the Network Operations Working Group, the Systems Engineering and Integration Working Group, and site managers.

CWID is an annual event sponsored by the Joint Chiefs of Staff that enables U.S. Combatant Commands and the international community to identify, assess, and field new and evolving technologies that can improve warfighting capabilities. For the CWID trials, GeoDecisions’ IRRIS application was used at three domestic sites and in Germany, Australia, and England to support coalition forces and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security during a series of multi-national simulated events. Among several functions, IRRIS tracked a convoy of relief supplies following a natural disaster, provided situational awareness during a terrorist attack, and ensured shipment security for mission critical military supplies.

IRRIS integrates worldwide infrastructure data, live vehicle tracking, near-real-time weather, and active route conditions into a single, secure application. SDDCTEA relies on the system to successfully coordinate military/emergency responses, manage assets, and track surface cargo on a global basis. GeoDecisions, an award-winning leader in the information technology industry specializing in geospatial solutions, developed the IRRIS application in partnership with SDDCTEA.

GeoDecisions’ experienced staff of professional consultants, analysts, and developers supports clients across the United States. Fundamental to the company’s award-winning approach is the integration of spatial information to empower existing systems and processes. GeoDecisions’ philosophy is based on an enterprisewide approach to the integration of diverse information technologies, data formats, and systems.

GeoDecisions is ISO 9001:2000 certified for its operations nationwide.
