Leica Geosystems Geospatial Imaging announced that Geosystems France is now an authorized distributor of Leica Geosystems Geospatial Imaging software products. Geosystems France will specialize in the areas of remote sensing, digital photogrammetry and 3D applications.
The members of the Open Geospatial Consortium, Inc. (OGC) have approved the candidate OpenGIS(R) Observations & Measurements (O&M) Specification for release for a thirty day public comment period. The document can be downloaded from here .
The O&M candidate specification describes a framework and encoding for measurements and observations. This framework is required specifically for use by other OGC standards known as the OGC Sensor Web Enablement (SWE) capability as well as for general support for OGC compliant systems dealing in technical measurements in science and engineering.
The Open Geospatial Consortium Inc. (OGC) launched an Interoperability Experiment on ocean science interoperability on January 29, 2007. The initiators of the experiment seek participation by other organizations interested in interoperability among information systems used in ocean research.
Organizations that wish to participate and that can meet the Requirements for Participation (see Oceans Science Interoperability Experiment Activity Plan ) must notify the OGC before February 15, 2007 of their desire to participate.

ESRI announces that GIS & RS Consulting Center GeoGraphic, a longtime subdistributor in the Republic of Georgia for DATA+, is now a full distributor to further enable the expansion of the geographic information system (GIS) market in the country
GeoEye announced the final payment on the $50 million credit facility that it drew down in January 2006 to fund the acquisition of the assets of Colorado-based Space Imaging. While the two and one-half year facility did not have an amortization repayment schedule, it was structured to be repaid from excess cash flow generated by the assets purchased from Space Imaging. Given the performance of the operation, the company has been able to repay this facility with cash flow generated within calendar year 2006. In conjunction with this repayment, the preferred stock that was issued in connection with the loan will be cancelled.
MapInfo Corporation, the global provider of location intelligence solutions, announced financial results for its first quarter of fiscal 2007.
For the quarter ended December 31, 2006, MapInfo reported total revenue of $42.0 million, an increase of eight percent compared to the prior year period. For the quarter ended December 31, 2006, MapInfo delivered operating income, in accordance with accounting principles generally accepted in the United States (GAAP) of $2.5 million, an increase of six percent compared to $2.4 million in the year ago period.
